ABLEDATA

ABLEDATA is a federally funded project that provides information on assistive technology and rehabilitation equipment. The ABLEDATA database contains information on more than 29,000 assistive technology products, from white canes to voice output programs.





Association of Educational Therapists (AET)

AET is a national organization that provides referrals to local Educational Therapists. Educational Therapy offers children and adults with learning disabilities and other learning challenges a wide range of intensive, individualized programs designed to remediate learning problems.<





All Kinds of Minds

The All Kinds of Minds’ mission is to help students who struggle with learning measurably improve their success in school and life by providing programs that integrate educational, scientific and clinical expertise. Dr. Mel Levine and his colleagues provide a comprehensive framework for understanding how all kids learn.





Council for Exceptional Children (CEC)

The CEC is the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, students with disabilities, and/or the gifted. The Division for Learning Disabilities (DLD) provides a useful website with many resources.





Developmental Delay Resources (DDR)

A national non-profit organization that provides information and networking opportunities to parents and professionals working with children who have delays in motor, sensory-motor, language, and social emotional areas.





Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC)

Information Clearinghouse funded by the U.S. Dept. of Education, has a wealth of information.





Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential

The Institutes® is a nonprofit educational organization that serves children by introducing parents to the field of child brain development. The Institutes programs (physical, intellectual and social) have been effectively used by over ten thousand brain-injured, neurologically impaired, and well infants, toddlers & children.





International Dyslexia Association

The Society, formerly The Orton Dyslexia Society, has 42 branches across the country which offer informational meetings and support groups. Referrals are made for persons seeking resources; in addition, the Society publishes journals and publications regarding dyslexia.





Learning Disabilities Association of America (LDA)

The LDA national office has a resource center of over 500 publications for sale; it also operates a film rental service. Call the national headquarters to receive a free information packet.





National Center on Educational Outcomes (NCEO)

Provides national leadership in the participation of students with disabilities and limited English proficient (LEP) students in national and state assessments, standards-setting efforts, and graduation requirements.





National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD)

NCLD provides educational tools to heighten understanding of learning disabilities, including the annual publications called "Their World," quarterly newsletters, informative articles, specific state-by-state resource listings, referral services and informative videos.





National Information Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities (NICHCY)

NICHCY is an information clearinghouse that provides free information on disabilities and related issues, focusing on children and adolescents.





National Institute of Mental Health
A good overview of learning disabilities.




Reading Rockets

Reading Rockets provides detailed information about learning to read and strategies for supporting struggling readers at home, at school, and in the community. It offers news, practical information, expert advice, and resources for parents, teachers, tutors, and child care providers.





Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic

Operators provide information on over 80,000 recorded textbooks and other classroom materials, from 4th grade through postgraduate levels, available for loan. Callers with learning disabilities are eligible to participate but must complete the certification requirements.<





Schwab Learning

Schwab Learning’s web site provides research-based information and guidance. Developed especially for parents of children who are newly identified as having a learning difference, it is designed to be a parent's "guide."
